Altrusa Scholarship Winner
We are pleased to announce Cherise Lee as the 2019 Altrusa International of Fort Worth Scholarship recipient. Ms. Lee is currently seeking her Master of Business Administration at UTA Fort Worth, and is expected to graduate in Fall 2020.
In addition to her studies, Ms. Lee dedicates her time and energy to volunteering for Habitat for Humanity, DFW Christmas is for Children food drive, Fort Worth Community Food Bank, as well as multiple food banks in the Austin area. Since 2016, she has also volunteered with the CHOSEN Youth Group at St. John Church Unleashed to serve as a chaperone, help facilitate classes with young girls, and participate in the girls mentoring program.
Altrusa International of Fort Worth is committed to making communities better through leadership, partnership, and service. Ms. Lee has demonstrated these same values in her professional and personal life. Cherise earned her B.S. in Journalism and Kinesiology and Health from The University of Texas at Austin. While completing her undergraduate degree, she was on the University Honors List multiple times, inducted into the freshman honor society, the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and named a Bell Leadership Association for Developing Excellence Scholar.
After graduating in Fall 2020, Ms. Lee plans to continue her pursuit of working in sports, as a sports journalist or for a professional team. “Ultimately, I would like to forge a marriage between my love for sports and my excitement in creating and planning events”, Cherise said. “I would love to work for an organization much like the Mavs Foundation because of the events they create for the community under the umbrella of sports.”
