What is the Financial System? What does it do? What role does money play? And what about the Federal Reserve? These are some of the questions that will be addressed in this course. The course is broadly divided into four sections, each building on the last until we have a complete picture of how the U.S. financial system and monetary policy actually work. We will focus on understanding how the banking system operates, both at the individual bank level and the sector overall. And then we will focus on the central bank and its functions. By the end of the course, you will have a broad understanding of how the financial system works and the role played by the Federal Reserve.
