The business information systems landscape is changing at breakneck speed as new technologies are embedded in accounting, enterprise resource planning, customer relationship management, and business intelligence systems. This course provides a practitioner overview of new tools, techniques, and terminology that accounting clients are considering, adopting, or actively using.
Developments of interest include the migration to cloud-based infrastructure, memory-resident computing, advanced user interfaces, business analytics/data visualization tools, and the use of artificial intelligence techniques by “citizen data scientists.” Course content includes discussion of current/baseline practices, identification of key emerging technologies, coverage of new developments in commercial information systems, and demonstration of select next-generation information system tools and techniques.
